Soldiers deployed to Israel will be under U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), attached to a Joint Task Force consisting of military personnel from both Egypt and Qatar.

US officials say CENTCOM is going to establish a "civil-military coordination center" in Israel that will help facilitate the flow of humanitarian aid.

The IDF says the general security forces is a Hamas body that supports the military wing of the terror group, and is tasked with several roles to "ensure the survival of the group, [continue] routine Hamas military activity, and disrupt the IDF's freedom of action in the Strip."
