Plague outbreak measures introduced in Irkutsk region

A mask mandate was introduced at the Irkutsk Aluminum Plant, and several hospitals were placed under quarantine for three weeks amid reports of a plague outbreak following the death of a laboratory technician.

Nearly 200 people who may have had contact with the woman were reportedly hospitalized, with some developing symptoms, and ambulances in the area have been accompanied by FSB officers. While Rospotrebnadzor claims the epidemiological situation is stable, authorities in Baikalsk briefly urged residents not to travel to Shelekhov due to the plague situation before deleting the message.
