Russian artillery regiment commander killed in Ukraine

A Ukrainian drone reportedly killed Russian Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Zharkikh, commander of the 8th Separate Artillery Regiment of the Black Sea Fleet, in the Kherson region.

According to reports, Zharkikh was identified by the Security Service of Ukraine as the officer who ordered Grad strikes on central Kherson in December 2022 that killed civilians. He was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment for war crimes by a Ukrainian court in 2025.
