Over the last several days, Russians have managed to exploit a gap in Ukrainian defenses west of Avdiivka in the village of Ocheretyne and have gradually expanded their control over the village.

After the 47th Mechanized Brigade recently had its rotation cancelled due to desertions - supposedly by the 115th - they were sent to plug the gaps in the defenses in the area, however this unit is battle fatigued after almost a year of intense frontline combat without rest. Ukraine will likely need to transfer additional units into the area lest they suffer a collapse of the line and have to fall back once more.

The "previous" fallback line is the current line of defense for the Ukrainians in the area, and if the Russians are able to fully exploit the breakthrough they're in the process of achieving in Ocheretyne, the Ukrainians will need to fall back again to behind the Vovcha River and associated resevoirs.
