An Iraqi security source told CNN on Saturday (local time) that a "huge explosion" took place at a military base belonging to Iraq's Iranian-backed Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in Babylon Governorate south of Baghdad.
The explosions took place at an ammunition depot at a PMF military base, the source said, but didn't provide further details or elaborate on a cause.
A statement issued by the Popular Mobilization Forces:
An explosion occurred at the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces at the Kalsu military base in the Al-Mashrou district on the highway, north of Babil Governorate. An investigation team immediately arrived at the scene, and the explosion caused material losses and injuries. We will provide you with the details once the preliminary investigation is completed.

Following explosion at #PMF base south of Baghdad, US official confirms to me no US military activity in the area. A senior Iraqi official tells me the explosion is believed to have been caused by an Israeli airstrike, but there’s no confirmation, and Baghdad will investigate.
