Evacuation and police response at RAF Fairford and Whelford

Residents of Whelford were ordered to leave their homes and were evacuated to a nearby leisure centre amid a major incident at RAF Fairford. Armed police, fire engines, ambulances, and the Army's Explosive Ordnance Disposal team responded to the area, closing roads and establishing a cordon.

The operation follows the arrest of several men on suspicion of offences under the UK's explosives legislation. Specialist teams examined a number of vehicles at the scene, while authorities stated they believe the incident is contained.
